The festival is an all-ages event. Only people over 18 years of age are allowed in areas that serve alcohol.
This year’s Jalometalli Festival takes place on the island of Kuusisaari in Oulu, in close proximity to the downtown.
There is no parking in the area, so we do not recommend arriving to the festival by car. The easiest way to get to the festival area is by crossing the bridges from Oulu Market Square to Linnansaari as well as around Raatti Sports field. Distance from Toripolliisi statue to the festival area is less than one kilometer.
4. Alcohol serving
There are 2 areas with alcohol serving at the festival, age limit 18. It is prohibited to bring alcoholic drinks or other intoxicating substances to the festival area. It is possible to leave food at the supervised cloakroom, located by the main gate.
Tickets are exchanged for wristbands at the wristband change booth located right by the ticket sales booth. Pre-sold tickets are also exchanged at the same place. see map
There are 3 stages in the festival area. Schedules by stage.
7. Sales stalls
Hunger is not going to catch you by surprise, since there is food for every taste at the festival. CDs, bands’ T-shirts, etc. are also sold at the festival. Not every sales stall accepts credit cards or Visa Electron, so remember to get some cash beforehand.
The cloakroom is located by the main gate so you can leave your unnecessary luggage as well as liquids there for the duration of the festival. Maximum of three (3) half-liter, unopened bottles of water may be brought to the festival area to quench one’s thirst. There is also a water refill station in the area. Cloakroom charge is 3€ and 2€ per visit.

At the third stage in Kuusisaari pavilion, performances happen independently from other stages, so Finland’s own bands are represented on a larger scale this year. Celebrated Swedish doomers Candlemass come to Jalometalli
The line-up for Jalometalli Festival in Oulu is quickly taking final shape. Our new headliner Candlemass, the adepts of Swedish epic doom metal, were previously at Jalometalli in 2007. Also Alfahanne and Tyranex will come to Oulu from Sweden. British Satan completes the old-school heavy metal line-up.
Among Finland’s own headliners are Sotajumala – number one of Finnish death metal, thrash veterans A.R.G., whose comeback album is going to be released in Spring, as well as heavy favorites Battle Beast who rose up to the top of the charts in January. Jess and the Ancient Ones from Kuopio together with Evil Drive from Kotka bring even more female power to the festival alongside Tyranex and Battle Beast.
At the third stage in Kuusisaari pavilion, performances happen independently from other stages, so Finnish bands are represented on a larger scale this year. On this third stage we will witness, among others, Lord Fist, Obscure Burial and Home Style Surgery. The current Oulu scene is comprised of Stargazery, Mors Subita, Sadistik Forest and Encrypted. Low sounds and Finnish doom-laden melodies will be provided by Fleshpress, Hooded Menace and Morbid Evils (lead by Rotten Sound singer Keijo Niinimaa).
The second night is headlined by the British heavy metal veterans Saxon, announced earlier. Other previously announced bands include British Cradle of Filth, Vallenfyre and Hell, Canadian Annihilator, US Obituary ja M.O.D. and Finnish Cønstantine, Lost Society and Wengele.

Big names at Jalometalli once again – the event returns to Kuusisaari
Oulu’s Jalometalli festival kicks again in August with a strong and diverse selection of the real metal music. The first performing artists for the festival, which is organized already for the 14th time, are confirmed.
One of the headliners are heavy metal veterans Saxon from Britain. The band is in the top league of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal alongside the likes of Iron Maiden, Diamond Head and Judas Priest.
The famed metal corps is augmented by long-standing favorites of symphonic extreme metal, Cradle of Filth. This band has broken genre boundaries multiple times and opinions have been passionately divided by the band’s style. Supergroup Vallenfyre, which plays death/doom metal, as well as intricate heavy metallers Hell add to the British tone of the festival.
By popular request, Annihilator brings thrash/speed/heavy metal tunes from Canada for listeners’ enjoyment. It is clearly the most desired band of the history of Jalometalli, and comes to the city for the first time ever. Successful Obituary represents the US side family of death metal bands hailing from Florida, as well as M.O.D., aka Method of Destruction, the East Coast thrash-playing New Yorkers.
Bright young ones Lost Society from Jyväskylä provide fresh faces for Finnish metal. “Terror Hungry” that came out last year was nominated for Emma Awards as the best metal album of the year. Cønstantine represent Finnish progressive metal from Jyväskylä, and were chosen as “the newcomer of the year” at the Finnish Metal Awards in 2011. Old-school thrash metal is represented by Wengele from Kiiminki, Finland.
