Press release April 24, 2008. For immediate release
Possessed (USA) to Jalometalli 2008

The final set of bands for the Jalometalli 2008 program has been confirmed. The addition of two American line-ups – Possessed and Sadistic Intent – as well as the Finnish Fall of the Idols and Masterstroke complete this year’s program, increasing the total number of foreign performers at this year’s festival to 12, double the number from last year. As usual, the festival brings together metal fans from all over Northern Europe at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland on August 15 – 16, 2008.

Founded in San Francisco 25 years ago, Possessed has earned the title godfathers of death metal, and for a reason. Since the band’s early years, their old school thrash has manifested far gloomier beats than their colleagues, and the influence of Possessed on death metal and its birth as a genre is indisputable. Last year, the band was reunited by Jeff Becerra, the original bassist/vocalist, and it is the first time the legend pays a visit to Finland.

Sadistic Intent is another band that will bring along more angry attitude from across the Atlantic Ocean. The band consists of three current members of Possessed, excluding Becerra and drummer Vanik Vartanian. The Los Angelean band has a cult reputation, and they are also among the pioneers of old school American death and thrash metal.

The representation of Finnish metal at this year’s Jalometalli will enjoy the addition of the promising Masterstroke from Tampere and the doom troops of Tornio, Fall of the Idols.

The final list of artists performing at Jalometalli 2008:
Overkill (USA), Satyricon (NOR), Possessed (USA), Sadistic Intent (USA), Mayhem (NOR), Trouble (USA), Mortal Sin (AUS), Blitzkrieg (UK), Desaster (GER), Pantheon I (NOR), Evocation (SWE), Astral Doors (SWE), Turisas, KYPCK, Barathrum, Prestige, Sotajumala, Kalmah, Catamenia, Adastra, Heavy Metal Perse, Fall of the Idols and Masterstroke.
